Having found gametime hard to come by at Oxford United, Jones joined us on loan midway through the 2023-24 season with the hope of kickstarting his career - and he hasn't looked back.
The attack-minded wide player, who was such a promising prospect at Coventry City before suffering horrendous luck with injuries, soon got up to speed to become a potent member of our attack and a big influence on our promotion back to the EFL.
Notts fans had had the misfortune of seeing him score a hat-trick against us for the Sky Blues on the opening day of the 2017-18 season and, despite missing so many matches through injury, he left the Ricoh as a firm fans’ favourite in the summer of 2021.
Jones spent the following pre-season with Oxford and went on to sign for the League One outfit, with manager Karl Robinson describing him as a ‘very exciting player’.
But playing opportunities proved limited for Jones at the Kassam and he jumped at our offer of a fresh start in the East Midlands, a move which primed him for European Qualifier appearances against Italy and England for Malta.
